Call For Papers

Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems is an academic journal published by Elsevier. (ISSN 0169-7439, impact factor 3.8).

An International Journal Sponsored by the Chemometrics Society Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems publishes original research papers, short communications, reviews, tutorials and Original Software Publications reporting on development of novel statistical, mathematical, or computer techniques in Chemistry and related disciplines. Chemometrics is the chemical discipline that uses mathematical and statistical methods to design or select optimal procedures and experiments, and to provide maximum chemical information by analysing chemical data. The journal deals with the following topics: 1) Development of new statistical, mathematical and chemometrical methods for Chemistry and related fields (Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, System Biology, -Omics, etc.) 2) Novel applications of chemometrics to all branches of Chemistry and related fields (typical domains of interest are: process data analysis, experimental design, data mining, signal processing, supervised modelling, decision making, robust statistics, mixture analysis, multivariate calibration etc.) Routine applications of established chemometrical techniques will not be considered. 3) Development of new software that provides novel tools or truly advances the use of chemometrical methods. 4) Well characterized data sets to test performance for the new methods and software. The journal complies with International Committee of Medical Journal Editors' Uniform requirements for manuscripts.

Special Issues

Special Issue on Rising Voices in Spanish Chemometrics: Contributions from the VII Workshop of Young Researchers in Chemometrics Submission Date: 2026-06-30 The VII Workshop of Young Researchers in Chemometrics, organized by the Spanish Society of Chemometrics, will take place on 22-23 January 2026 in, Leioa Campus (UPV/EHU), Spain. This gathering offers an excellent opportunity for early-career scientists to exchange ideas, present their work in short oral talks, and possibly posters, in a friendly, stimulating environment. Sessions include both introductory and advanced training in classification analysis, led by Prof. Davide Ballabio (Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Italy). We are proud to host a dedicated special issue in Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems to collect selected contributions from promising young researchers, a great chance to highlight innovative chemometrics research. Guest editors: Prof. José Manuel Amigo, PhD University of the Basque Country, Leioa, Spain josemanuel.amigo@ehu.eus Prof. Giulia Gorla, PhD University of the Basque Country, Leioa, Spain giulia.gorla@ehu.eus Special issue information: This Special Issue highlights innovative contributions from emerging researchers in chemometrics, focusing on both methodological advances and impactful applications. Submissions may cover multivariate data analysis, machine learning, signal processing, validation strategies, or data fusion, among others. We particularly welcome papers enhancing model interpretability, or demonstrating strong validation and reproducibility. Interdisciplinary studies using chemometrics are encouraged. The issue aims to showcase the creativity and scientific excellence of the next generation of chemometricians through high-quality, original research. Manuscript submission information: Submissions will open for the upcoming Special Issue in Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems. The submission deadline is 30 June 2026. The journal's submission platform (Editorial Manager®) will accept submissions. If you have any questions regarding the special issue topic, please reach out to guest editors. To prepare your manuscript, please refer to the Guide for Authors and select the article type 'VSI: VII Workshop Spanish Chemom' when submitting your manuscript online. Both the Guide for Authors and the submission portal can be found on the Journal Homepage at https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/chemometrics-and-intelligent-laboratory-systems Submission Open Date: 1 February 2026 Submission Deadline: 30 June 2026 Keywords: Multivariate Data Analysis; Chemometric; Machine Learning; AI; Validation; Design of Experiments
