Special Issue on New Challenges in Pervasive and Lasting Wireless Communications for Artificial Intelligence SystemsDía de Entrega: 2024-12-31Recent years have witnessed dramatic development in the capability and functionalities of mobile devices, such as smart phones, cars, and various Internet-of-Thing gadgets. The integration of these devices with edge and cloud servers forms a pervasive and lasting distributed platform for data process and contributes to the unprecedented flexibility of diverse artificial intelligence systems. Within these AI systems, the process of computing could happen anytime and anywhere, making a comprehensive and continuous use of heterogeneous resources. The implementation of AI systems relies heavily on the essential supports from wireless communications, which bridge diversified devices and facilitate the seamless sharing of data, services, computing, and storage powers and so on. However, current design on wireless communications faces nonnegligible challenges, which includes the lack of smooth fusion of heterogenous devices and protocols, the absence of long-term maintenance of communication channels under dynamic and stochastic environment, etc. Although techniques like 5G, edge computing, MIMO provide some insightful solutions, they are mainly designed for general purpose of communication systems, and the requirements of various AI systems remain unsettled. Therefore, this special issue solicits innovative idea on novel theory, design, methods, and applications of wireless communications specifically for artificial intelligence systems. Topics for this call for papers include but are not restricted to: Architectures and frameworks for mobile communications in metacomputing systems Communication theory for AI systems Wireless network protocols for AI systems Encoding and decoding mechanisms for AI systems Hybrid wireless communication methods for AI systems Physical and Mac layer design for communications in AI systems 5G networks and edge computing for AI systems Resource management and allocation for AI systems Incentive mechanisms for AI systems Privacy and security for wireless communications in AI systems Federated learning in AI systems Deep learning methods for wireless communication in AI systems Wireless communication systems and applications for AI systems Guest Editors: Yingshu Li Georgia State University United States Xu Zheng University of Electronic Science and Technology of China China Honghui Xu Kennesaw State University United States Akshita Maradapu Vera Venkata Sai Towson University United States
