Aims & Scope

Computers & Mathematics with Applications provides a medium of exchange for those engaged in fields contributing to building successful simulations for science and engineering using Partial Differential Equations (PDEs).

The following are the principal areas of interest of the journal:

    Modeling using PDEs.
    Analysis of mathematical models, formulated in terms of PDEs.
    Discretization Methods and Numerical Analysis for PDEs.
    Numerical linear and nonlinear algebra. Fast numerical algorithms.
    Algorithms and Data Structures. Adaptivity. Computational Geometry.
    Software Design, Code verification and Quality Assurance (QA).
    Verification and Validation.

Special Issue on 9th International Conference on Advanced COmputational Methods in ENgineering and Applied Mathematics (ACOMEN2025)

The purpose of this Special Issue is to collect extended versions of the most significant and high-quality presentations from the ACOMEN2025 conference. By gathering these contributions, the issue aims to showcase the latest advances in computational and applied mathematics and to highlight the innovative research presented at ACOMEN2025.

Full scope of the Special Issue: 

This Special Issue in Computers & Mathematics with Applications (CAMWA) is devoted to full research-paper contributions arising from the ACOMEN2025 conference. ACOMEN2025 provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners to present, discuss, and advance the latest developments in computational and applied mathematics across a broad spectrum of engineering and scientific applications. The Special Issue is intended to reflect the full scientific breadth and interdisciplinary character of the conference, showcasing innovative methodologies, emerging trends, and impactful applications.

Computational and applied mathematics have become essential to the modelling, simulation, and optimisation of complex systems in modern science and engineering. This Special Issue will highlight state-of-the-art approaches as well as new challenges in theory, numerical methods, and high-performance implementations. Contributions are welcome that address both fundamental advances and real-world applications.

The main topics include, but are not limited to:

    Applied and computational mathematics;
    Computational solid and fluid mechanics;
    Computational material science and electromagnetism;
    Computational natural sciences, biomechanics, and bioengineering;
    Data-driven and AI-enhanced modelling;
    Fluid–structure interaction and coupled multi-physics problems;
    High-performance scientific computing and scalable algorithms;
    Inverse and ill-posed problems;
    Machine learning and model-reduction techniques;
    New and emerging discretisation and numerical methods;
    Numerical analysis and error estimation;
    Optimisation methods and optimal control;
    Partial Differential Equations and their applications;
    Scientific software development and reproducibility;
    Simulation of manufacturing processes;
    Uncertainty quantification, stochastic modelling, and risk assessment.

Only the best presentations at ACOMEN2025 will be invited to submit extended versions of their work to this Special Issue. All submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process. By collecting these high-quality contributions, the Special Issue seeks to offer a comprehensive overview of current research trends and future directions in computational and applied mathematics, fully reflecting the scope and ambition of the ACOMEN conference.
