Call For Papers
The IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) publishes the GRSS Magazine (GRSM), which provides a
venue to publish articles that do not find a home in technical science journals. These papers are reviews, summaries and
tutorials and all GRSM regular papers should be of that character. Technical papers are published but only when they are
components of a special issue. Present plans are to publish a special issue every other issue of GRSM.

For all papers there is a short “white paper” process in place where a 1-1.5-page description of the paper is submitted, and a
member of the editorial board will recommend whether the full paper should be invited.

GRSM also publishes column articles on:

•Education in remote sensing
•Space agency activities
•Industrial activities
•Memorials of remote sensing scientists
•GRSS technical committees
•GRSS chapter activities
•Book reviews
*Remote sensing in Africa
•Remote sensing in South America
•Remote sensing in China

The magazine is published with an appealing layout in a digital format, and its articles are also published in electronic
format in the IEEE Xplore online archive. The digital format is different from the electronic format used by the IEEE
Xplore website. The digital format allows readers to navigate and explore the technical content of the magazine with a look
and feel like that of a printed magazine. The electronic version provided on the IEEE Xplore website allows readers to
access individual articles as separate PDF files. Both the digital and the electronic magazine content is freely available to all
GRSS members.

This call for papers is to encourage all potential authors to prepare and submit reviews, summaries, tutorials and special
issue technical papers for review to be published in the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Magazine. Contributions to
any of the above-mentioned topics of the magazine (including columns) are also welcome.
Authors interested in proposing special issues as guest editors are encouraged to contact the editor-in-chief directly for
information about the proposal submission template, as well as the proposal evaluation and special issue management
procedures.

All tutorial, review and technical papers will undergo blind review requiring the IEEE standard of two positive reviews for
acceptance. The submission and review process are managed at the IEEE Manuscript Central, as is already done for the
three other GRSS journals. Prospective authors are required to submit electronically using the website
https://ieee.atyponrex.com/journal/grsm. Instructions for creating new user accounts, if necessary, are available on the login
screen. No other manners of submission are accepted. Papers should be submitted in a single column, double-spaced format.
