EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking (JWCN) is an academic journal published by Springer. (ISSN 1687-1499, impact factor 1.9).

Aims and scope The overall aim of the Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking (JWCN) is to bring together science and applications of wireless communications and networking technologies with emphasis on signal processing techniques and tools. It is directed at both practicing engineers and academic researchers. Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking will highlight the continued growth and new challenges in wireless technology, for both application development and basic research. Articles should emphasize original results relating to the theory and/or applications of wireless communications and networking. Review articles, especially those emphasizing multidisciplinary views of communications and networking, are also welcome. Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking employs a paperless, electronic submission and evaluation system to promote a rapid turnaround in the peer-review process. The journal is an Open Access journal since 2004.

Special Issue on Mathematical Models for Small Antennas Día de Entrega: 2026-07-31 Over the past four decades, there has been a growing interest in mathematical modeling for antenna theory, driven by two major developments: The rapid evolution of wireless communications, which has spurred the need for innovative antenna designs. The popularity of fractal sets, celebrated for their flexibility in modeling real-world applications. Fractal configurations, with their inherent properties of miniaturization and multiband behavior, have become a compelling model for designing small antennas. However, pre-fractal sets are not the only approach to achieve miniaturization. Recent research demonstrates that certain non-fractal modifications of fractal antennas can outperform their original versions. Moreover, fractal geometry alone does not fully capture the electromagnetic behavior of antennas. In fact, the geometrical configuration—whether fractal or non-fractal—may not be the sole determinant of antenna performance. Technical requirements and the complexity of the underlying physics often guide design choices. In recent years, numerous publications have highlighted the growing interest in this area. To advance this discussion, this Special Issue invites review articles, expository papers, and original research contributions on recent advances in mathematical modeling for small antennas, as well as broader theoretical and practical investigations in applied mathematics and information engineering related to this topic. Topics of Interest include (but are not limited to): Fractal geometry in antenna design Wireless applications and emerging technologies Design and optimization of small antennas Performance analysis of miniaturized antennas Fractal-like models in antenna theory Wavelet models for small antennas Wavelet bases and their applications in antenna design

Special Issue on AI for Communications and Communications for AI Día de Entrega: 2026-10-01 The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation communication technologies has created a deep and dynamic interplay between AI and communication networks. AI-driven communication enables intelligent perception, adaptive control, and efficient resource management across complex environments, while communication networks serve as the backbone for distributed and collaborative AI—supporting large-scale model training, edge inference, and low-latency data exchange. The integration of AI4Communications and Communications4AI offers transformative opportunities for building intelligent, autonomous, and context-aware network ecosystems. At the same time, it introduces challenges in scalability, energy efficiency, security, and cross-domain coordination. This Special Issue aims to bring together leading researchers and practitioners to advance the co-design and co-evolution of AI and communication technologies, driving the development of intelligent, secure, and sustainable future networks. The convergence of AI and communication technologies is a critical enabler for the next wave of intelligent connectivity. As networks evolve toward 6G and beyond, conventional architectures can no longer meet the demands of large-scale distributed intelligence, semantic communication, and real-time decision-making. Embedding AI into communication systems is essential for autonomous optimization, while communication infrastructures provide the backbone for scalable and trustworthy AI deployment. Advancing this synergy will redefine how future networks sense, think, and communicate, fostering innovations that empower sustainable and intelligent digital ecosystems. Special Issue on 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit: 6G, Connecting Intelligence Día de Entrega: 2026-10-10 This Special Issue will collect extended contributions of papers published in the proceedings of the international conference 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit (European Conference on Networks and Communications and 6G Summit), which will be held in June 2026 in Málaga, Spain. The best papers of the conference will be selected by the Technical Programme Chairs and the Track Chairs. The respective authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their work. The Call for Papers of the conference will be disseminated through the 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit website, as well as through social media platforms, newsletters, and several e-mail reflectors, reaching a wide international global audience. The aim of this Special Issue is to report on the advances of 6G-related research, with a special focus on achieving high efficiency, security, and sustainability. Building on the lessons from current deployments, 6G will introduce new technological enablers. 6G will be driven by demanding economic and societal needs for future public and private deployments, focusing on high efficiency, sustainability, and security. To unlock the full potential of the 6G ecosystem, advancements must be made in all areas, including technological enablers, key performance indicators, and value indicators, with an emphasis on societal needs and industry-specific applications. This involves minimising resource consumption across all aspects—such as energy usage, spectrum and cost efficiency—at all functional levels, including data, control, network function, service and security, AI, and Digital Twin layers, as well as optimising hardware resources across the entire system, from end devices to connectivity, computing, and storage. Contributions can cover different levels of technology readiness, from fundamental research to applications and trials. The motivation for this Special Issue is to present the latest and finest results on the evolution of research of mobile and wireless communications, coming, but not exclusively (EuCNC & 6G Summit is a conference open to the whole research community), from projects co-financed by the European Commission within its R&D programmes. A list of potential topics to be covered is reported below. However, the list is not exhaustive and contributions beyond these topics will be considered for publication if relevant to the scope of the Special Issue.
