Special Issue on Nuclear Acid Vaccines and Therapeutics

Nucleic acid vaccines and therapeutics have emerged as a promising approach for the prevention or treatment of infectious diseases, cancers, genetic disorders, etc. The Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine were awarded in 2023 and 2024 further propels research on this field to new heights. Of note, due to the intrinsic properties of nuclear acids, safe and effective delivery to target cells or tissues remains a significant clinical hurdle, which necessitates the aid of delivery systems. 

This issue aims to highlight valuable research findings and the recent advances on the following topics but not limited:

    Materials and formulations for the delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics;
    Diagnosis and therapy using nucleic acid therapeutics;
    Nucleic acid-based vaccines for infectious diseases, cancers, etc.;
    Applications of nucleic acid therapeutics in protein replacement therapy;
    Clinical translation and challenges of nucleic acid therapeutics.
